Tattered Angels & Stenciled Tags

The other day I shared a blog post showing background papers made from Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist & Glimmer Glam, Strathmore Watercolor Paper & TCW Stencils. Here are some of the completed projects from this post.

Tattered Angels and Stencils = LOVE

It's no secret that I love working with stencils to create background paper to use in other projects. In this instance I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist & Chalkboard Glimmer Mist to create these on Strathmore Series Water Color Paper. I love to use watercolor paper because of the texture of it..after it grabs the color the glimmer really pops..of course we don't have GLIMMER VISION!

I don't worry about colors I just grab and COMMIT TO THE MIST! Here are the 4 papers I created last week.

Here are a few examples of one way to use these background papers. I have been working on decorating them to use as gift tags for Christmas gifts.

Tattered Angels Christmas Snowflakes

Good afternoon...a quick share of three ornaments I created using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam, inexpensive wood snowflakes from Michaels, Helmar Adhesives and I hit up the stash box {love when I'm busting out my stash!}These are projects that were suppose to be on the Tattered Angels blog for Nov 10th but due to some technical difficulties I wasn't able to post.

OCEAN SPRAY Glimmer Glam

Easy peasy, break out your Tattered Angels, grab some wood ornaments and COMMIT TO THE MIST. Once dry attach all your fun embellies with HELMAR 450 Quick Dry Glue AND THERE YOU GO!

The Whatever's #1 or Secret in the Attic

By now you may have heard about this new challenge called The Whatever's, an idea created by 3 friends who love to collect old photographs. It's a genius idea to incorporate old photos, paper crafting and creative storytelling. Here are the stories from the creators Catherine Matthews-Scanlon, Nathalie Kalbach & Vickie Chrisman. 


I've decided to create mine in a 9x12" format utilizing watercolor paper. I will bind the pages and create a cover as I work through the 12 months of this challenge. Here is how I interpreted Challenge #1 and the 1st photo:

Here is the story that goes with this journal page:

This will be the summer I will never forget…see I spend all summer at my Grandma’s beach house at Nags Head, NC. Usually days are filled with sand, sun and surf…some fishing and reading and just being lazy…the perfect thing for a 12 year old. But this summer would be different and let me tell you why.

I had just finished reading my favorite Nancy Drew mystery, The Secret in the Old Attic, and was getting ready to go find another to delve into but I couldn’t find one. Grandma wasn’t home but I knew where she hid the key to the attic. Now I know that I’m not suppose to go up there but I was hot on the trail to find another mystery…little did I know what awaited for me.

The attic was dark and you could see cracks in the roof, probably from all the wear and tear from seawater, rain and the tropical storms that would pass over the island called the Outer Banks. I quickly got busy looking for the box of books that I knew was kept up there but for some odd reason my eyes fell upon an old trunk that I don’t remember ever seeing before. I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. It was covered with dust and cobwebs and I almost turned away but I noticed that it wasn’t locked…in fact it was slightly ajar.

Now being a Nancy Drew fan, wanting to grow up to solve mysteries like her, my curiosity got the better of me. The top looked heavy as I tried opening it…to my surprise it was quite light. I was disappointed to find that it was empty or at least I thought it was empty. I noticed what looked like an old piece of wallpaper at the bottom and as I turned it over, to my surprise was a picture of two children with a tattered envelope.

Who were these children, what were there names, where did they come from, why did they look so sad?

So starts the summer I will never forget...

Pink Paislee Mistable Album meets Tattered Angels

I'm consistently amazed at how all the Tattered Angels paint products work with wood. I just LOVE the new Pink Paislee Mistable wood album mixed with the Fall 2011 Ltd. Ed. Colors. Here it is in it's raw form:

With these Fall 2011 Glimmer Mist Ltd. Ed. colors Blackberry Cordial, Butternut Squash, Mallard, Pumpkin Spice, and Fairway & Fern Glimmer Chalkboard I created  this album:

Not only does it take the color extremely well but it's a great surface to stamp on. I used Ranger Archival Ink in Black and Dyan Dylusions Stamp Set Further Around the Edge. Other products used: Pink Paislee Wood Letters, & 7Gypsies and Tim Holtz metal embellishment to finish off.

I like working on this so much that I have created another album that will go live on Oct. 22 on the Tattered Angels blog. Check back to see what I created.

Tattered Angels & DCWV Embossed Cards & Helmar

This months Tattered Angels DT projects was to design cards. I'm not an enthusiastic card maker but I stumbled across a solution...the EMBOSSED BOX OF CARDS by DCWV.  This set contains 40 embossed cards and envelopes with 10 different designs. The embossing is so cool I thought I would just paint each card with a different Tattered Angels Paint medium and see what happened. Here is a picture of all three together.

Little Sprout can about with a BABY embossed card that I painted with a coat of Tattered Angels LIPSTICK PINK Glimmer Glam, added a sentiment and Prima Flowers dusted with Tattered Angels CHANDELIER Glimmer Glam, some Helmar's Craft Glue & Scrap Dots…how easy was that? Oh ~ I might like this type of card making.

The next one used a HEARTS embossed card and a coat of Tattered Angels PRIVATE MEADOW Glimmer Glam along with assorted embellishments including my homemade heart embellishment. Using my Helmar glue products again it was done in no time and a stash buster at that!

 

Last but not least is my favorite of them all.  A BROCADE embossed card that I added Tattered Angels ROCKIN’ ON SUNSHINE Glimmer Glam, BAHAMA BLUE Glimmer Mist, wooden letters from Pink Paislee and my homemade winged heart using Tim Holtz’s HEART WINGS Sizzix die. Of course using my HELMAR Premium Craft Glue made the whole card put together and finished in a flash!

With a fabulous set of Embossed cards from DCWV, add some Tattered Angels Paint mediums and Helmar glue and you are good to go. No more remembering at the 11th hour that you need to get a card out to your favorite somebody and not have anything...brilliant idea!!

Tattered Angels & Shane...

For the past two weeks I have been in Buffalo, NY, home since I was in college...home to my daughter Cait and my grandson Shane. After school is out here in NC we always head back up for the start of summer...birthdays, family, friends, 4th of July. I look forward to being there for Cait's birthday...she turned 27 at the end of June. I also had the pleasure of providing childcare to an energetic, rough and tumble 7 yr. old!


Because I would be there for two weeks I prepared an art box to take with me, consisting of journals, paint, glue, stamps, stamp pads and the all important TATTERED ANGELS Glimmer Mist. One morning as Shane & I were eating breakfast he asked me about "the special paint that I worked for"...don't you love that! Of course I had to get out my handy, dandy art box and I shared with him the "special paint"...I didn't expect the next question, but I probably should have..."Grandma, can I make a card for my Momma's birthday?".


Of course wanting to share my knowledge with anyone that listens I proceeded to tell him all about TATTERED ANGELS...I explained how you had to shake the bottle, and hold it correctly and of course the infamous "COMMIT TO THE MIST!" We got to work and here are a few pictures of Shane creating the birthday card...now remember this is an a 7 yr. old who one minute is Jack Sparrow including the tattoo's to a budding artist. The pictures are rough but I so wanted to share them.

After he finished and knew it had to dry he was off being a WWF Wrestler. He did finish the card later that day and he gave to his Momma on her birthday. I didn't get a chance to snap a shot of the card but Shane did ask if I would send him some of the "special paint made by Angels", some stamps and stamp pads so he could be an artist...out of the mouth of babes!!
