Where I create...

I thought I would share my Tattered Angels Design Team blog post. Our assignment this month was to highlight where we create along with ideas and suggestions for storing Tattered Angels paint mediums and supplies. So welcome to my world!!!
This month has been filled with such inspiration on how to organize and store all the lovely Tattered Angels paint mediums and accessories. Now it's my turn...I had to make a decision...do I make my studio look neat and tidy or show you a modified version...some where in between tidy or in the middle of working on projects...I went with the later. For the 1st time in my life of creating I have my very own separate room {lovingly called my CREATE CAVE}...it is the smallest of 4 bedrooms...probably a nursery in this 1920's American Four Square home. It is small but I have been able to squeeze a mixture of new and cast-offs in it.
My 1st big splurge was my project table from Pottery Barn. Here it is when it was brand spanking new.
This is what it looks like today...doesn't look quite the same...but that's OK as it gets a daily workout of creativity. I need this height of a project table because I stand when I create so this is perfect for me. One end of the table is for painting with my well worn Tattered Angels misting mat...you can see some of the bottles that I just finished a project with.
Here's a close up of how I store my Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Chalkboard. The top tray stores the new Chalkboard Colors while the middle tray holds the newest Ltd. Edition Colors of Glimmer Mist and also the Color Connection colors. The bottom tray is all Standard Colors stored in color families following the color wheel {ROYCBV}.
I store all my Glimmer Glam and Glimmer Glaze in these really cool fruit boxes that I fell in love with and kept after we finished eating the fruit. I actually have several and they are sturdy and stack and I smile when I see them ;)
I was very fortunate that the storage unit I have was free {thank you Sue & Lizzie}. It really is useful and I got all the plastic containers for a steal!! I store mainly by manufacturer...it's how my brain visualizes projects. On the right side you will see extra Glimmer Mist, Glam & Glaze in plastic containers...these are duplicates of colors I use often. You will also find my assortment of Glimmer Chips, Fonts, Glimmer Glass, Bingo Cards and other Tattered Angels Accessories. On the left side you will see a shelf of stamps kept in various storage boxes {again purchased for  steal} and the large Tattered Angels stamp sets are kept on the bottom shelf. I know where everything is because I organized it by function and use.
I hang my Tattered Angels Screens from this hanging rack, either in original packaging or sheet protectors on a binder ring. This helps keeping them from tangling all up. I also keep my scissors and heat gun and other paint mediums here. If it is something I used often it is out and close at hand.
Last fall I realized that painting with all my TA paint products so close to my Mac probably wasn't the best idea so my 2nd investment was this project table/desk that now is command central...not only do I run my house from here but where I do my photo printing, going on FB, taking my online classes, checking in on FB, my inspiration corner and did I say FB yet...reading blogs, FB, ordering supplies, FB. LOL!
I love enjoying my projects before they get put in albums so I have this incredible 24" x 24" magnetic board. This is my inspiration corner.
I also am able to have my equipment out so I can use it when ever I want...this is one of the best things I have found in having my own dedication space...no more pulling the sewing machine out of the closet. Of course my beloved Vagabond machine is plugged in and ready to use at a moments notice.
Finally at the end of my tour is one more storage space that I have carved out of this small room.
I hope you enjoyed my tour and to send you off on your merry way I would like to share a project that was inspired by a class I took with our very own Nathalie Kalbach. I had so much fun creating this canvas  and everytime I look at it I smile...it's a happy project!

  4. Just found your blog, and I LOVE peeking in other's spaces (I don't even have a scrap-room, not even small, so I'm waaaay jealoussss now *teehee*) Your projects on the wall look so nice, it really IS an inspirational corner! And I'm as organized as you are - if I had a scraproom, it would probably look a bit like this. I must remember the 'high'table - I too create standing and at times, my back is killing me!
