My WEEK in Review...Art Journals, ICE Resin & Jewelry!

I've been BUSY...creating everyday...something...trying new things...having BIG FUN!!!!!

I'm taking a jewelry class from Courtney Stein Birdsall at Serenity Studio Arts on Mon. nights. This is one talented metalsmith...let me tell you. I'm going to twist her arm to let me showcase some of her jewelry pieces in a future blog post!

Last week I learned how to wrap sea glass.

This week I learned how to create a frame and wrap beads...I really love this technique!

On Thursdays two of my very favorite soul sisters come over and we spend the day creating art...usually working in art journals but this week I taught them how to create jewelry using the Media MiXage system from Spellbinders and ICE Resin. I can't talk about our little group because "what happens at Mart's...stays at Mart's"...so I will have to twist their arms to see if they will let me share.

My Creations

A sneak peek at a secret squirrel project that I am working on...now that everything has arrived I can get started.

I have been playing in my journal and I am trying out a different approach...leaving some white space on the page. Here is the page I created and I'm really happy with it...so different from one of my regular pages!

Last BUT not least...and truly thankful and excited...I will be teaching Art Journaling down at Serenity Studio Arts here in Elizabeth City, NC.

I have been gathering supplies and information for several people who have never created an art journal. Courtney {proprietor of the studio} and myself are trying to create the concept of an open studio for art journaling. At this time we have scheduled several different dates and time...once you have completed your first session then you can drop in at any of these times to work on your journal. I plan on introducing different techniques and supplies at each session but also just be there to encourage the students! Because I absolutely love this journal we will be starting off in the Dylusions Creative Journal designed by Dyan Reaveley

Now it's time to go see what else I can get my hands into...have a creative Friday & thanks for stopping by!

My AJED December Style~Week 1

December is here and the countdown has started. For myself it’s not a busy time because we go HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS…that’s when the fun really begins. I have found living 800 mi. away from family & friends and even though I’m in the holiday spirit it’s just not the same as when you are surrounded by loved ones!

Last year I created 30 Days in Your Journal ~ December with a class with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer {who really was my inspiration to start art journaling}. It was a blast and made the time waiting for the trip home fly by. I’m doing it again this year…a little differently though.
I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with "Art Journal Every Day: December" kit from Cocoa Daisy, designed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. If you want to know more I recommend you start here.
I’m creating a journal using 6x6 in paper. I purchased the kit from Cocoa Daisy because I really wanted the custom stencil and stamp set designed by Julie. I’m also busting out my stash of all those little pads of paper. I’m not sure how I’m binding it yet but am taking it into consideration. Each day is basically the same format with the days thoughts, musings & ramblings on the front and an Instagram photo on the back. The photos are coming from a list called Capturing December.

Thank for stopping by...what are you doing today?

Ribbon Carousel and HELMAR Blog Hop

Today the Helmar Design Team are teaming up with the designers at Ribbon Carousel, to bring you a jam packed Hop filled with crafty goodness!

Ribbon Carousel has some wonderful ribbon organizers and that is how this amazing company started. Today, we get to feature some other wonderful products that they carry, so hop along with us and have fun.

What does one do with black and orange ribbon? Hmmmm....let me see...oh yeah...HALLOWEEN! Let me share with you today 3 very quick projects utilizing ribbon from Ribbon Carousel and HELMAR Adhesives.

The 1st project is a card created from the former House of 3...a digital Halloween card. Once printed out I attached the card to solid card stock using Helmar Acid Free Professional Glue. I then pleated a gorgeous butternut squash colored sating ribbon and attached it to the card using Helmar 450 Quick Dry...you do know that it will not discolor your ribbon which makes it a perfect choice for a card.

A small canvas was created from a Tattered Angels chipboard card that was misting with Tattered Angels Cinder Glimmer Mist and Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist. I attached 3 ribbons utilizing Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and Helmar Zap Dots in medium and small to apply the Tattered Angels Halloween calling cards. The buttons and alphabets utilized Helmar Zap Dots to complete the canvas

The last project really is just a quick way to utilize left over ribbon and dimensional stickers. I folded over the fabulous orange grosgrain ribbon and closed it with a dab of Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, then added the 3 stickers and a button and plastic spider with the same 450 Quick Dry. A fun little wall hanging I'm sending to my grandson.

Now, lets talk prizes!

Hop along with us today and leave some blog love for our The Designers of Helmar and Ribbon Carousel for your chance to win!!
The Helmar prize is a complete 12 pack of Zap dots, including clear, black and white in circles and squares both in 1/4" and 1/2" sizes!
