Starting From the Same Place: Artist Collaboration

I'm really honored to be a part of this Artist Collaboration: Starting From the Same Place organized by the uber talented Tina Walker. The premise was simple...everyone who agreed to this collaboration received all the same materials that had to be used in the projects, we could add to it but couldn't subtract! Sounds easier than it turned out be. You can see all the products and materials we received in the photo below.
FIRST a big huge shout-out to these sponsors who graciously
helped in this collaboration!

I added a few of my go-to products also:
Prima Art Stones Large & Mini
Seashells
Pearls
Driftwood
Vintage Glass Glitter
Lampwork Bead
Brass Mermaid
My starting point.

So with all of these wonderful products I created
A DAY AT THE BEACH

The background is a piece of handmade paper and I covered the wood frame with the fabric included.  It's hard to see but if you look close the 2nd piece of fabric was cut and applied at the bottom of the wood frame before I started to layer in all the pieces.

Can you find the butterfly in this corner?

Relics & Artifacts Clam Shell resin blanks

Seashells & Coral

The project doesn't stop there. I've created a pocket to keep some of my personal photos from different beaches I've visited on the back of the wood frame.

The Stencil Girl stencil pattern was created by applying Art_C Wax Paste in Metallic Gold. I love the way it came out!

Thank you for stopping by! I encourage you to visit the different artists either through their blogs or on FaceBook. To see the different projects using the same products will be an interesting trip through various styles & original creative ideas.

Arabesque Stencil Blog Hop with Nathalie Kalbach

I'm really honored to be a part of todays blog hop showcasing the Arabesque Stencil designed by Nathalie Kalbach for Stencil Girl Products  I've been waiting with great anticipation for her designs to come to the market place and I know that you will love them as much as I do. Let's take a look at the stencil and what I created with it.

I've been playing with my Gelli Plate for printing and have a stack of backgrounds ready to go. I thought the fluid nature of the Arabesque stencil would be perfect for this already completed page that had parts that I liked and parts I didn't. I love this page now and love the richness of the navy blue acrylic paint I used.

Once completed I then turned it into a  Art Journal page background by scanning to my computer and then have printed at my local office supply store on 80lb. cover paper. I've been doing this lately and use them has parts of other Art Journal pages. I love the fact that I can go back and use this design again if I so chose. Here is the completed background and I have provided a link at the end of the post where you can download this page for your own personal use.

Here is how I completed the background page. I've been wanting to use this photo that my husband took of HIS incredible Clematis {does anyone else have a husband who gardens and calls the plants his???}. This background was the perfect page to display this photo.

Blog Hopping With Nathalie Kalbach's New Stencils and Stencil Girl Products

I'm really honored to be a part of todays blog hop showcasing a fabulous stencil designed by Nathalie Kalbach for Stencil Girl Products. I've been waiting with great anticipation for her designs to come to the market place and I know that you will love them as much as I do. Let's take a look at the stencil and what I created with it.

If you remember what this is...raise your hand?

The TYPEWRITER...the bain of my existence for my college years! Every term paper pounded out on a double layer of onionskin with carbon paper in between. Typing along and then BAM...a mistake! Somehow though I made it through all those term papers and graduate from college!

Fast forward to today...how do we communicate in the 21st century???? I love the new technology and I would call myself a techie, the new advances are so up my alley. That is the concept for this journal page using the fabulous new stencil designed by Nathalie Kalbach.

My background started as a MOP page in my Dylusions Creative Journal Page. This is the place where I mop up any excess ink sprays {can't waste that good stuff}. On this page are all the various Dylusions Ink Spray colors.

I wanted the this typewriter stencil to take center stage so using Wendy Veechi Studio 490 Black Embossing Paste I scrapped the paste over the stencil, removed the stencil and allowed the paste to dry completely.

To complete the journal page I took screen shots of all the various forms of technology, social medium platforms and communication that I use on a daily basis. The photos you will see are from my individual pages. The icons are all free social media icons found on the web, along with the composite picture of the Apple products I use.

Do these look familiar to you? I'm betting they do! I am a creature of my own technology and communication forms and wonder how far these innovations will go. I'm hate to admit I will anxiously be waiting for all the new things to come.
